Here’s what you need to know!
I’m Erica, capturer of love + growing families, lover of earth tones, and constantly chasing a moody overcast sky just as much as a golden sunset.
I am both a wife + a mama to 3 kiddos. Oh, and a dog mom to Fen. That’s pretty new, though. He’s still a pup, so you could say between the kids and the pup my husband and I are pretty tired, ha! When I'm not shooting or editing, you can find me navigating motherhood (my kids are my best little buds), spending quality time with my family, binge watching some Netflix with my husband after the kids go to bed, and occasionally (probably more than i'd like to admit) wandering around Target buying all the things. Home decor is my jam. Sometimes I think it’d be cool to be an interior decorator, but the only practice I’ve had is on my own home so I think I’ll just stick to that and photography. Boho everything though, am I right?
I have a HUGE weakness for chips and salsa and cheese dip. I could probably eat it every single day but I try really hard not to. I somehow managed to make a little carbon copy of myself because my daughter is the same way. She requested a “chips and salsa and cheese dip” birthday party last year so I was pretty dang proud of that. I am also always cold. My husband thinks I’m nuts. You’ll find me sleeping in a sweatshirt in July, but I think this comes in handy for summer sessions because I don’t usually break a big sweat chasing your kiddos around, so bring on all the chaos!
My husband and I have been together for over 10 years (married 9 this year!). He is my biggest supporter in this photography endeavor and in life in general. He can also be my biggest pain in the butt but I think that’s normal, right? He proposed to me 10 years ago near the mountains in Colorado and it’s been a dream of mine to shoot a session in the mountains. Sooo maybe we can make this happen? Who’s down for a mountain wedding? Hire me?
I started to dabble in photography when my oldest was around a year old. I knew absolutely nothing except how to turn on my camera and take a picture on auto. I have taught myself everything I know from light to camera settings to posing to editing. I went from taking photos of my son, to friend’s kiddos and then friends of friends and so on. I finally turned it into a business and here I am. I have put literally blood, sweat, and tears into what I do, and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to capture these moments for so many of you.
I’m a firm believer in community over competition, whether in the photography community or just the creative world in general, and love getting to know and support others. A lot of my friends own small shops or businssses and it truly brings me joy to share their creations with others because they are all so talented. If you’ve visited my Facebook page or Instagram, you’ve probably seen me talk about a few of them.
If you’re looking for someone that is going to get that shot with everyone smiling and looking at the camera in every image, I’m not your girl. I live for the in-between stuff. I love catching the moody candid, genuine interactions, all of the raw and the real. My hope is to create timeless images that you will look at years down the road and be filled with all of the emotions that you felt in that moment. A field with a good sunset view is my happy place but like I mentioned before, I also am a firm believer that a moody overcast sky is just as amazing if not better.
Thanks so much for being here //
Let’s create something beautiful together.
